"For me and the kids, Neighborhood House is family."
In just nine words, Donna captures the heart behind our mission. And this heart beats in every interaction. When Donna’s daughter Raelynn receives birthday cards from our staff, it tells her, "We see you. We care about you." When her son Mikey, who has celiac disease, finds gluten-free foods in our pantry, it tells him, "Your needs matter to us." Our most important work is to make sure that everyone who walks through our doors knows they are valued — loved for who they are.
For 97 years, Neighborhood House has been more than a community center or human services agency. We’ve been family to thousands of people like Donna, Raelynn, and Mikey — a place where neighbors lift each other up and help each other out. And that spirit of mutual support, of compassion and understanding, continues to grow. Our latest Impact Report highlights the progress we’re making:
1,722 bags of food were distributed — a lifeline for those struggling with food insecurity.
Over 100 youth participated in our Youth Development Program, increasing their chances of success both now and later in life.
30 households avoided foreclosure with our support, while 16 more achieved their dream of homeownership.
27 families enrolled in our Early Learning Center, providing their children with high-quality early childhood education.
Behind each of these numbers is a story — a family finding stability, a child becoming a better reader, an elderly couple being able to stay in their home. This holiday season, you can help write the next chapter through a gift to Neighborhood House. Your generosity has a direct impact on those we have the privilege to serve:
$50 contributes to a week of healthy meals for our youngest learners.
$100 helps provide after-school care and nutritious snacks for our youth.
$250 supports access to housing counseling for anyone who needs it.
$500 strengthens our ability to deliver programs and services across New Castle County.
Your gift does more than fund programs — it creates countless moments of connection and care that remind us, no one rises alone. When we lift each other up, when we stand together in moments of challenge, we all grow stronger.
When you support Neighborhood House, you become part of something profound: the birthday card that makes a child feel seen, the gluten-free food that shows we understand, the helping hand that steadies a family during difficult times. For nearly a century, we've shown that true community means making sure everyone knows they matter, they belong, and they have the power to rise.
Will you help us continue this vital work? Together, we can write the next chapter of hope and possibility for our neighbors.
